Seams

What is a seam?

Seams are simply edges where two currents of different speeds meet. They may be created by structure like logs or rocks – or where flows converge. In most cases the fish will hold on the softer (slower) inside edge of the seam.

Lesson Summary

A seam is an edge where two currents of different speeds come together. These seams can be formed by structures like logs or rocks, or by the convergence of flows. In the majority of cases, fish will be found along the softer (slower) inside edge of the seam. This particular spot provides fish with advantages and certain conditions suitable for their needs:

  • A seam is an edge where different current speeds meet.
  • It can be created by various structures or where flow converges.
  • Fish tend to hold on the softer (slower) inside edge of the seam.
